THE PRODUCTION
For more than sixty years, Lanford Wilson's writing has stood among the defining voices of the American theatre. While many audiences know Talley's Folly, The Hot l Baltimore, or Burn This, some of his most extraordinary work lives within his one-act plays.
Who We Become brings together three of those rarely produced works in repertory. Distinct in tone yet deeply connected in their exploration of memory, identity, intimacy, and human connection, these plays reveal Wilson at his most immediate and emotionally revealing.
Originally developed by Deep Flight Productions for the New York stage, the production received an acclaimed Edinburgh Festival Fringe premiere in 2025, earning multiple five-star reviews, a Fringe Theatre Award, and a FringeReview Highly Recommended Show designation. Returning in 2026, the production continues its exploration of Wilson's remarkable theatrical legacy while inviting new audiences to discover these extraordinary plays.

The Moonshot Tape
A successful writer returns to her Missouri hometown to help care for her ageing mother. Responding to questions from an unseen local interviewer, she revisits pivotal moments from her past. Written with Wilson's signature lyricism and emotional clarity, the play explores memory, identity, and the moments when lives quietly change course.

A pre-dawn hotel room encounter between a husband and wife unfolds with Lanford Wilson's signature wit, revealing the humor, tension, and unexpected tenderness within a familiar ritual.

Deep Flight Productions is a multidisciplinary theatre and film company founded by award-winning actress, producer, director, and singer Margaret Curry. The company creates work that entertains, provokes, and reveals, bringing new life to established plays while developing original theatre, cabaret, film, and digital media. Mark Cirnigliaro | Director
Mark Cirnigliaro has directed world premieres and acclaimed productions at 59E59 Theaters, INTAR, Abingdon Theatre, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He directed the Off-Broadway premiere of The Moonshot Tape and A Poster of the Cosmos, and has guided Who We Become from its presentation in 59E59 Theaters' East to Edinburgh series through its Edinburgh Festival Fringe productions.
Margaret Curry | Concept, Producer & Performer
Margaret Curry is an award-winning actress, producer, director, singer, and the founder of Deep Flight Productions. Her recent work includes Three by Tennessee, Who We Become, and her 2024 Bistro Award-winning, 2025 MAC Award-nominated solo cabaret, The Space In-Between. She is also co-writing, co-directing, co-producing, and starring in an original dark comedy series currently in development.
Geoff Stoner | Performer
Geoff Stoner is an actor, director, and cabaret artist. His theatre credits include Who We Become, Nightsweat, The Trysting Place, and The Giver for Literature to Life. He has collaborated with Deep Flight Productions since the project's New York premiere and has been praised for his performances in both Breakfast at the Track and A Poster of the Cosmos.
Jeff Watson | Sound Designer
Jeff Watson composed the original sound design for Who We Become, creating the sonic landscape that connects the three plays while supporting each work's distinct emotional world. His collaborations with Deep Flight Productions include Who We Become and The Space In-Between.
Alan Buttar | Graphic Designer
Alan Buttar is the founder of Muse Graphic Design and has spent more than two decades creating artwork, advertising, and marketing materials for theatre companies and festivals. His clients include 59E59 Theaters, Keen Company, Transport Group, The Civilians, and hundreds of Off-Broadway productions. His work has helped define the visual identity of Who We Become.

EXTENDED ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES
Lanford Wilson (Playwright) was a pioneer of the Off Off-Broadway and regional theatre movements. His plays are known for experimental staging, simultaneous dialogue, and deferred character exposition. He won a 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Talley’s Folly (1979). Wilson attended schools in Missouri, San Diego, and Chicago before moving to New York City in 1962. From 1963 his plays were produced regularly at Off-Off-Broadway theatres such as Caffe Cino and La Mama Experimental Theatre Club. Home Free! and The Madness of Lady Bright (published together in 1968) are two one-act plays first performed in 1964; the former involves a pair of incestuous siblings, and the latter features an aging gender-nonconforming performer. Balm in Gilead (1965), Wilson’s first full-length play, is set in a crowded world of hustlers and junkies. The Rimers of Eldritch (1967) examines life in a small town. In 1969, along with longtime associate Marshall W. Mason and others, he founded the Circle Theater (later Circle Repertory Company), a regional theatre in New York City. Wilson remained involved with Circle Repertory until 1996, when it closed. Wilson achieved commercial success with The Great Nebula in Orion (1971), The Hot l Baltimore (1973; adapted for television 1975), and The Mound Builders (1975). He also wrote a cycle of plays about the effects of war on a family from Missouri; these include The 5th of July (1978; televised 1982), Talley’s Folly, A Tale Told (1981), and Talley and Son (1985). His other plays include The Gingham Dog (1969); Lemon Sky (1970; televised 1987); Angels Fall (1982); Burn This (1987); Redwood Curtain (1993; televised 1995), about a young adopted woman’s search for information about the Vietnamese woman and American GI who are her real parents; Sympathetic Magic (1997); and Book of Days (1998). Some of Wilson’s plays are gathered in Four Short Plays (1994) and Collected Plays, 1965–1970 (1996).
Mark Cirnigliaro (Director) NY world premieres: The Net Will Appear by Erin Mallon starring Richard Masur (59E59), The Hounds of War by Bill Holland (Abingdon Theatre), The Little Princess by Jennifer Bowen (June Havoc Theatre), The Judgment of Fools by Bernardo Cubria (INTAR Theatre), Comfort Women: A New Musical by Dimo Kim (Peter Jay Sharp Theater – associate director). He directed the award-winning production of Honour: Confessions of a Mumbai Courtesan by Dipti Mehta and took JJ Pyle’s How to Find A Husband in 37 Years (or Longer) for a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe. He directed Deep Flight Productions’ Off-Broadway production of “The Moonshot Tape and A Poster of the Cosmos” by Lanford Wilson (the Flea), and directed the work last year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as “Who We Become: One-Act Plays by Lanford Wilson” following its presentation in 59E59 Theaters’ East to Edinburgh series. Mark directed the first academic productions of Annie Baker’s The Aliens and Rajiv Joseph’s Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. He was formerly the associate artistic director of Mile Square Theatre, resident director of InViolet Theatre, and co-founder of Wee Man Productions. Mark currently works with Jersey City Theater Center as part of their new play development and is on faculty at The Peddie School. He graduated from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts with his MFA in Directing, earning the Dean John I Bettenbender Award for Artistic Excellence.
Margaret Curry* (Actor) is an award-winning actress, producer, director, and singer. She has starred in over 300 performances as Titania in Fools in Love, The Musical, toured nationally with Church Basement Ladies, and recently performed Off-Broadway in Three by Tennessee (White Horse Theater Company). She performed in and produced the Off-Broadway production of “The Moonshot Tape and A Poster of the Cosmos” by Lanford Wilson with her company, Deep Flight Productions, at the Flea, and brought the work last year to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as “WhoWe Become: One-Act Plays by Lanford Wilson” following its presentation in 59E59 Theaters’ East to Edinburgh series; the production earned multiple five-star reviews at EdFringe. Broadway Baby called her performance in “The Moonshot Tape” “perhaps one of the best performances you will see at the Fringe this year.” On screen, Curry is known for Starfish, Diamond Ruff, and the holiday feature Merry Good Enough. She’s appeared in national and regional commercials, including Carnival Cruises, Spike TV, Jello Mousse and Cuisinart. Favorite directing credits include An Evening with Eva: Waiting for Adolf by J.P. Sclafani and the US premiere of Brian Eley’s Some Things are Just Too Big for Numbers. A celebrated vocalist, she has performed at Lincoln Center and is currently touring her 2024 Bistro Award-winning, 2025 MAC Award-nominated solo cabaret show, The Space In-Between, including a recent performance at London’s Crazy Coqs. He performed in the Off- Broadway production of “The Moonshot Tape and A Poster of the Cosmos” by Lanford Wilson with Deep Flight Productions at the Flea, and brought the work last year to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of “Who We Become: One-Act Plays by Lanford Wilson”, following its presentation in 59E59 Theaters’ East to Edinburgh series, earning enthusiastic reviews for his performances in “A Poster of the Cosmos” and “Breakfast at the Track.” Other works include playing the title character in a theatrical adaptation of Lois Lowry’s novel The Giver, directed by Wynn Handman and performed in New York City schools as part of the American Place Theatre’s Literature To Life series. Earlier New York productions include Tom in the New York premiere of Nightsweat by Robert Chesley, and Rupert in Booth Tarkington’s The Trysting Place at the St. Peter’s Theater. He also appeared in Yoko Ono’s video “Sky People” as the Leading Man. As a cabaret performer, Geoff’s solo shows include A Short Visit Only, based on the life and songs of Noël Coward, You’re The Top, featuring the songs of Cole Porter, and Words With Music, his slice-of-life account of growing up Episcopalian and randy in small-town Connecticut. Stoner studied acting with Uta Hagen and Wynn Handman. He has also studied improvisation at The Pit. As a director, he has worked on numerous cabaret solo shows and workshops around New York City.
